My Modest Maternity Wardrobe Favorites: Building a modest maternity wardrobe that also looks great takes a some versatile, favorite pieces, along with pretty accessories, too!

Since I’m on my sixth full-term pregnancy, I’ve gotten a pretty good idea on what I like to have on hand for a modest maternity wardrobe that also fits my personal style.

There are certain must-haves I need for tops and skirts, and they have to meet some important criteria: they must be comfortable, the material can’t be high maintenance, and I prefer them to be versatile.

I also like to get as much of my maternity clothing as I can from thrift and consignment stores. Maternity clothing is worn for such a short time, and I just can’t justify paying full price if I have the option of getting something used!

However, a few things I will pay full price for, and they’re items that are worth the extra expense because they fit those three criteria mentioned so well.

Tops

When it comes to tops, I love soft cotton with a little bit of stretch for some extra give and a nice fit. I really like having a nice selection of solid colors with little details in the sewing and construction like gathers, tucks, ruching, and such.

half-tees

I find that most maternity tops are too low-cut for my preferences, though. That means that I also have to have some maternity tanks and camis to make sure my necklines are at a comfortable, modest place.

Though I like having a couple of full-length tanks (black and white thrift store scores), I really love wearing Half-Tees for layering! These are awesome for maternity wear since they don’t go over the belly.

Sometimes it’s really nice to not have another layer on a pregnant belly that is often itchy, and us expectant moms are known to get warm easily. Half-Tees really make for a great solution for modest maternity tops! I like having some in the tank style for under shirts and sweaters, and some with sleeves to wear under dresses or sleeveless tops. They’re great for nursing, too!

Skirts

rainbow denim skirt

As I mentioned in a recent post, I’ve found that many regular maxi skirts work great for maternity wear when I just go up one size. They are comfortable but can also be very stylish, too!

I also like to have a really good denim, khaki, and black maternity skirt on hand. With those three, I can pull together quite a few outfits!

This pregnancy I’ve been loving my new Rainbow Denim maternity skirt from Deborah & Co. It’s longer than the other maternity denim skirts I’ve owned, and it is a bit fuller at the bottom, too. The denim has just a bit of stretch and the rainbow seams add a nice touch.

It’s definitely a skirt that can be dressed up for going out or kept casual for being at home. Versatility? Check!

rainbow denim tummy panel

The stretchy maternity panel does come up high on it. I know some women hate that. I actually have mixed feelings, but end up on the positive side most times.

On one hand, I don’t like panels that stay too low on the belly because I’m just not one to go for showing off a pregnant midriff. Call me crazy nutso, I know. I also feel like the higher panels hold skirts up better. I’m constantly readjusting those that have the lower panels.

However, I will concede that my belly gets itchy at the end of a full day wearing a high panel, and it does in this skirt, too. But I still think that the higher panel makes the most sense for skirts, so I can’t complain.

And really, it’s such a pretty skirt!

Accessories

Gold Tiara Flexi Clip in Large

I really like infinity scarves and shorter necklaces for maternity wear since my belly is popping out. I feel like they just lay better. They also add a nice extra touch of color or interest if I’m wearing more versatile clothing pieces.

And of course, matching my Flexi-Clips and hairbands to my outfits really helps to pull everything together. Even if I’m behind on laundry and have limited options for my outfit for the day, I know my hair will look great with my Lilla Rose pretties!

Black Friday at Deborah & Co. Is Coming Up!

I have to mention quickly the Black Friday sale coming up at Deborah & Co. With a house full of little girls plus myself, I’m never short on a wish list there! The sale will run Friday November 27 through Monday November 30.

They are running a full 20% off the entire store and orders of $50 or more will receive a free scarf! I think I might see more princess play dresses in our future. Yippee!
